At Pierce Street Same Day Surgery we're proud of our child-friendly reputation. Children are comfortable at the center because of our warm and personal setting. Our staff offers attentive individualized care to your child.

To Parents of Children Having Surgery

We work to help your child feel at ease with our play area, books and toys to enjoy before coming to his or her patient room. Feel welcome to stay with your child right up to the time of surgery, and join your child after the procedure.

• Bring a favorite toy or blanket with you which may stay with your child.
• If your child takes a bottle or sippy cup you are welcome to bring it for use after surgery.
• An IV may be in place, but can be removed as soon as your child is drinking liquids.

Guidelines

• Do not allow your child to eat or drink water or other fluids after midnight the evening before surgery unless otherwise instructed.
• A parent or guardian must accompany children and remain in the surgery center during the procedure.
• Please arrange for child care for other children. Children should not be left unattended in waiting areas.

If you'd like to purchase a special gift, an array of huggable stuffed toys, books and other items are available at the hospital gift shop. Let us know if you would like us to arrange a balloon delivery to take home with your child after surgery.
