The Night Before Surgery
- Do not eat or drink anything after midnight the night before
surgery, unless instructed otherwise.
- You
can brush your teeth and rinse
your mouth with water, but do not swallow the
water.
- Do not take any medications after
midnight unless you have been instructed
to do so. If you require insulin
bring it with you.
- If you smoke, try not
to do
so.
- Take a shower or bath and shampoo your hair. Refrain from using
lotion, cream
or oils.
- Arrange for someone
to drive you home. You are not allowed to
drive after surgery.
- Arrange for someone
to stay at home with you the night of your
surgery.
