On the Day of Your Surgery
Our Surgery Center Registrar will have you
sign required paperwork. You may sit
and relax, until a nurse calls for
you and escorts
you to the pre-op area.
Visitor Advice
We encourage visitors to bring books, crossword puzzles or other
items to ease their waiting. Our television,
computer with Internet access, and
coffee
bar can also help pass
the time.
After surgery your physician will talk to your
family. We will notify
your family when you are taken to the recovery room and
back to your private room. Please remind your family
to leave word at the desk if they must leave
to prevent delays
when you are ready to leave.
Consent Forms
Before surgery, we will ask you to sign a form that
gives us permission to perform the procedure and administer
anesthesia.
Recovery
If you have had anesthesia, you will go to the recovery
room immediately after surgery. Specially trained
registered nurses
will care for you.
You will then return to your
patient room
where a registered nurse
will continue your care.
Going Home -
You Will Need A Ride
To ensure your safety, we will release you only
when a relative or friend can take you home.
You will not be allowed to drive
yourself.
Managing Recovery at Home
- You will receive dismissal instructions prior to going home to
manage discomfort at home, diet, activity,
and personal care.
- A nurse will call
you a day or two later to check on your recovery
and answer any
questions.
